September 2019 sees the launch of an outstanding collaboration
Jewellery Making Summer School Programme
In September 2019, Hatton Jewellery Institute (HJI) will launch a new one year programme in collaboration with Central Saint Martins Short Course Unit in London.
The collaboration with Central Saint Martins introduces a whole new creative dimension.
The Art of Engraving
Our Summer School Programme is designed to take beginners through to advanced level in only 8 weeks. An intense course made up of 64 sessions or 160 hours, the beauty of this course at Hatton Jewellery Institute is the flexibility of choosing to complete the course in 8 weeks flat or opt for a more flexible rolling schedule to suit your diary.
Unique Wedding Experiences and Gifts To Treasure Forever
Considered a ‘dying art’, the number of people practising the craft of hand engraving is falling, where much of the engraving today is done with lasers directed by software. However using machines pre-set with designs don’t quite scribe the way humans do. With shallow cuts, the result is far less vivid than the human hand armed with the right engraving tools.

Hatton Studios relaunches website and rebrands to Hatton Jewellery Institute
This September, we launched a range of new courses specialising in Jewellery Design and Hand Engraving. As Hong Kong’s dedicated Jewellery Institute, we believe in making the fine jewellery industry more accessible with a “next step” approach. We provide technical training and a valuable support network that has nurtured a growing number of students who have gone on to establish their own jewellery brands.
Hatton Jewellery Institute (HJI), formerly Hatton Studios, was founded in 2012 by Creative Director and Founder of Melville Fine Jewellery, Nathalie Melville. As the only dedicated space in Hong Kong with a focus on technical training, HJI has grown into a sought-after establishment by private students and the World's leading fine jewellery heritage brands including Chanel, Tiffany, DIOR, Piaget and more.
